Welcome to my new blog. I used to keep a professional blog at tolibrarian.com, but with my recent move back to the Chicago area and a new job, I figure it’s time for a fresh start. Most of the entries from my old blog are here now and hopefully I’ll be good about keeping this site updated. No promises, though!
I’m working at Skokie Public Library now and one of the first projects I’ve worked on is a new staff learning program based on PLCMC’s Learning 2.0 program. We’re calling ours 10 Things @ SPL and it’s kicking off tomorrow. Blogging is a major component of the program as every participant is being asked to blog about their experiences with the 10 Things. I’ll be doing my part by keeping this blog and I hope my colleagues visit this site along the way.
So thanks for visiting and don’t forget to leave a comment!

For anyone reading this who doesn’t already know, I recently (as in two days ago) moved to the Chicago area to live closer to family and take a new job at the Skokie Public Library. I’ve had a great year with Thousand Oaks Library and will miss everyone there.
This also means that I won’t be posting any new entries to this blog. I haven’t had time to set up a new blog, but when I do I think it will be broader in scope rather than focusing on just library related stuff. Who knows, though? Maybe I’ll change my mind and keep a “professional” blog as well as a personal one.
Thanks for reading…
Edit: I’ll be blogging here at kongtemplation.com.

I’ll be making some changes to this site during the next few days, so it might look a bit off. Right now this is a free blog on wordpress.com, but I’m going to move it over to my remote server and install wordpress.org software. I’ve done this once before and it took me forever to figure out since everything I know and do with my websites is completely self-taught (read clueless). Hopefully this time, things will go a lot smoother and it won’t take long before my new and improved site is up…*fingers crossed*
–update–
Well, apparently I learned something the first time around because it didn’t take me long (1 hour?) to make some of the changes I wanted. The site is now hosted on a remote server and I have a lot more control over things. One obvious thing I changed immediately was the wordpress theme. It took me a long time to pick one since there are a gazillion to choose from. I finally settled on the one you see now, called TerraFirma, and the only things I modified were the header image and some of the sidebar widgets. What’dya think?

Welcome to my new blog about libraries and life in Thousand Oaks, CA. If you want to read a bit more about this blog, click on the AboutĀ link at the top of the page.
I’m not new to blogs by any means, but it’s been awhile since I’ve kept up a personal blog so I’m not quite sure how this will all turn out. Hopefully, I’ll find some interesting things to say about libraries, pop culture, world events, and Thousand Oaks. Some ideas I have include writing about the Library’s services, reviewing restaurants and businesses in Thousand Oaks, and highlighting upcoming events taking place in T.O.
Btw, I’m eager to hear from anyone out there who happens to find themselves on this blog, but I’m especially interested in hearing from residents of the Thousand Oaks area. So, feel free to leave comments or contact me using the Meebo widget to the right. If I’m not online, type me a quick message and I’ll get it soon enough.
Thanks for visiting!
